A very enjoyable and enlightening article. A topic I'll have to share with others.

This topic is diluted by software vendors - at least the ones selling financial planning & reporting to Finance/Accounting. The tools offer a variety of statistical algorithms for projecting future spend (or revenue). I wonder how carefully the FP&A, Business Unit or Dept Manager is thinking of the assumptions and tracking those assumptions over time.
